Primary 1 want to say a BIG thank you to Fin’s Grandma Mo & Grandad Tim who volunteered their time to come visit us today (all the way from Yorkshire!) to show us some of their old toys from when they were children.
They kindly explained how the toys or games were used and Primary 1 all got a turn of playing them! We learned how to play ‘Shut the Box’, ‘Shove Ha’penny’, ‘Marble Solitaire’ and ‘Skittles’ using an old wooden board. We also had a go of swinging the ‘Cup and Ball’ – (Miss McLoughlin was not very successful!) and we built models using Grandad Tim’s old stone building blocks.
P1 had a fantastic time trying out the toys and games from the past. If any other parents/grandparents/great grandparents fancy coming in to share their old toys with the children – please get in touch 🙂
