P1 marked Pancake Day today by making pancakes in small groups this morning. They measured out the ingredients and all chipped in to mix up the batter.
In P.E today we practised our pancake flipping technique with a bat and beanbag, then we practised balancing our ‘pancakes’ on different parts of our bodies.
This afternoon we discussed the reason Christians celebrate Shrove Tuesday – to admit to wrongdoings, and to serve as a sort of countdown to Easter, marking the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday.
We then taste tested our pancakes with a variety of toppings including butter, jam or chocolate spread. There was lots of sticky fingers and messy faces!!
